Thoughts

If I had to choose a word that would describe Pauline, I would use the word "charm". Pauline moved with charm, there was charm in her art and in her garden. Her smile was charming, as was her manner; she was never less than charming and she engaged those around her with charm. Her elegance was charming, also her efficiency. Her mischievous smile was both charming and disarming. All of her charm will be sadly missed. Annette Stewart - 14 Dec 21

I am 4 months away from turning 40 years old. For almost 35 of those years, Pauline was a part of my life. My first memory is of Pauline being this radiant, beautiful woman down on the little hill of Banda. Then that beautiful lady became our nextdoor neighbour on Star and I don't think I ever saw a woman look more elegant when watering her garden as Pauline looked. We started having big Christmas celebrations together and Pauline would always turn out the best costumes for Ben for the wee parties us kids would have. Then back in England and with The Germans moved into the next village from us, the Christmases together continued and we celebrated everything there was to celebrate together and Pauline always brought beauty, kindness, fun, love and warmth to every occasion - not to mention delicious food. My life and the lives of my family have been intertwined with Pauline and her family for so long and Pauline was a huge part of so many significant and insignificant moments that she has been and will remain a profound and lasting influence on me and I only hope I can emulate some of her wonderfulness. I miss her but feel so very blessed that i loved her and was loved by her. The world can be a cruel place, but Pauline always brought love and kindness to confront that. I will carry her with me always xxxx
